Gov Rotimi Amaechi's aide kidnapped in Rivers state

One of the aides of Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, Mr Fred Ndigbara has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. According to reports, Mr Ndigbara, a staff of the Press Unit of the Government House was kidnapped during the APC rally in in Kanani 1 community in Khana local government area of Rivers State yesterday February 22nd.

The Gunmen stormed the venue of the campaign rally, disrupted proceedings and then whisked away Mr Ndigara into a waiting Toyota vehicle. When contacted, the states police public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Ahmad Muhammad confirmed the incident, and said the police has begun a search for the governor's aide and also apprehend the kidnappers.

Nigerian Army removes Commander whose battalion revolted yesterday

The Army Commander whose unit revolted yesterday May 14th in Maiduguri (read  here ) has been removed by the Nigerian Army from the 7th infantry division. Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Major General Chris Olukolade, announced the removal of Major General Ahmadu Mohammed in a statement released today. The Commander's battalion revolted yesterday, shooting sporadically after seeing the bodies of their colleagues who had been ambushed and killed by Boko Haram in Chibok. They also complained of not getting adequate weaponry to fight Boko Haram and poor conditions. The soldiers shot at their commander during the rampage but didn't kill him.
