The House of Representatives yesterday Thursday May 29th approved 14 years imprisonment for persons who contracted same sex marriage in the country. This was sequel to a clause-by-clause consideration of a Bill for an Act to prohibit marriage or union entered between persons of same sex, at the Committee of the Whole. “Marriage or civil union entered between persons of same gender shall not be solemnised in any place of worship, either church or mosque or any place in Nigeria,” it said. Introducing the bill, Rep. Albert Sam-Tsokwa ( PDP-Taraba) said that it sought to achieve a far reaching objective by outlawing same sex marriage and provide punishment for offenders. It also set out a 10-year sentence for “any person who directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationships’’. “Any persons or group of persons that administers, witnesses, screen and shields the solemnisation of same sex marriage in Nigeria on conviction, will be liable to 10 years imprisonment.’’ I

A section of a train returning from Ijoko in Lagos State to its base at Ebutte Metta, Lagos on Wednesday derailed at Agege, in an incident said to have been caused by defective tracks. As of 11am on Wednesday, the scene of the accident had been cordoned off by policemen from the Railway police. An employee of the National Railway Corporation who spoke to PUNCH on the condition of anonymity said that the driver of the locomotive also shared the blame in the accident. “The rails were not aligned properly; there was a gap between them which ought not to be. It so happened that the driver who was driving the locomotive, was moving at a high speed. When he ran into the improperly laid rails, the locomotive was thrown off the rails.

A man (on the photo) was arrested after he allegedly crashed his car while having drunken sèx – catapulting his shocked lover through the windscreen. Luis Briones, 25, was found wearing just one shoe with his shorts inside-out as he hid from cops behind a cactus, it is reported.. His female passenger was ejected from the wrecked 4x4 Ford Explorer and found sprawled naked on the ground. She was treated for deep cuts to her face and head. Shockingly, Briones is accused of trying to speed away from the crash scene in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leaving his injured passenger behind. But his getaway on Monday night was thwarted when a bystander grabbed his keys from the ignition. He has been charged with aggravated drink driving, reckless driving and evading police.

According to the police, the suspect, who works at a cemetery in Epe area of the state, was arrested with a human skull. Police sources claimed that the suspect sold human parts for a living, adding that he had become notorious in the area for selling human parts. It was learnt that the suspect was arrested following a report by a resident who saw him displaying a skull for sale. The grandfather, who could not give his exact age, said he started selling human parts because he was poor and jobless. He said, “I live at 2, Tungbehin Street, Epe. I have two children and I am a grandfather.

Insiders say Rihanna is not taking Chris Brown's reconciliation with ex- Karrueche Tran too well. Chelsea and Super Eagles star Victor Moses has said he is devastated that injury has ruled him out of upcoming matches for Nigeria. Victor has pulled out of all the games due to injury and will not be fit to play again until July 6th after undergoing treatment.

A man who won a Lamborghini crashed it after only 6 hours of driving it. A truck driver for Frito-Lay in Utah, David Dopp, won a Lamborghini Murcielago in a shop contest at a convenience store recently. Six hours after receipt of the luxury car, it crashed. Before that even happened, he was detained by police for driving too fast. After that, he went out of control after hitting a patch of black ice which caused the vehicle to fly 75 feet off the road. Reports indicate that he was going somewhere between 40 to 50 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Orobokibo crooner, Pasuma Wonder, according to repo rts,was yesterday dispossessed of his metallic silver colour Range Rover Sport by armed robbers. A nine-man  gang attacked music artiste, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma, in Ahmadiyya end of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Monday night.   The robbers snatched Pasuma’s Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle with number plate Lagos, MUS 830AP, and dispossessed him of other valuables.   NIGERIANEYE  learnt that the singer, in company with a friend, was on his way to a show when he was attacked by the culprits.   It was learnt that some of the culprits forced their way into Pasuma’s vehicle and drove him around for over three hours before dumping him into a bush near Ota, Ogun State, and made away with the vehicle.   An associate of the singer, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the incident occurred at about 9pm.   The source Pasuma was not identified by the robbers because he hid his face.   He said,

The family of one of the Woolwich terror suspects today expressed their “profound shame and distress” over the “senseless killing” of soldier Lee Rigby. Relatives of Michael Adebolajo, 28, sent their “heartfelt condolence” to the family of the tragic drummer, who was hacked to death near barracks in south-east London. In a statement, the Adebolajo family said: "Nothing we can say can undo the events of last week. "However, as a family, we wish to share with others our horror at the senseless killing of Lee Rigby, and express our profound shame and distress that this has brought to our family." They said they believed that “there is no place for violence in the name of religion or politics”, adding that they “wholeheartedly condemn all those who engage in acts of terror”. Ghanaian authorities have temporarily banned the Ghana branch of TB Joshua's Synagogue Church of All Nation from hosting revivals, days after four people were killed and 13 more injured in a stampede during a church service on Sunday May 19th. Thousands of people flocked to the church after church officials announced that holy water would be distributed. During the rush for the anointed water, three men and one man lost their lives after being trampled over. Ghanaian authorities said the stampede could have been avoided if the church had used a bigger venue. The church is no longer allowed to hold revivals at their Spintex Auditorium in Accra.

The national president of the Nigerian chapter of Junior Chamber International, Oyebanjo Okunuga (pictured first) and his deputy, Agaptus Nnadiekwe (pictured second), died on Sunday May 26th in a fatal auto accident while returning to Lagos after attending a collegiate conference at Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo state. The vehicle they were traveling in crashed, killing Oyebanjo and Agaptus, while the executive secretary survived. He's currently receiving treatment at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital. Apart from being Nigeria JCI president, Oyebanjo was the CEO of Kubacle Clothing, - a clothing company and also CEO of Business Craft Solution, - an entrepreneurship development organization He was 32 years old. A new born Chinese baby was rescued by firefighters from a toilet pipe after being flushed down the toilet by his parents. The 2-day old baby was stuck in the sewage pipe directly beneath a toilet commode in a residential building in Jinhua in the wealthy coastal province of Zhejiang on Saturday afternoon, Chinese State TV reports Firefighters received a call from residents of a block of flats saying they heard the sound of a baby crying and believed a baby was stuck in the pipe. When firefighters got there, they removed the pipe and took it to a nearby hospital, where doctors carefully cut around it to rescue the baby boy inside. The baby, whose placenta was still attached, is believed to have been stuck in the pipe for hours. Unbelievably, he survived the ordeal. He is now in care and said to be in stable condition. The police are said to be looking for his parents. God be praised.
