Nigerian-American student Omotayo Adeoye (pictured above) went missing after attempting to commit suicide. Omotayo, a student of High School of Mathematics and Science, had attempted suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge Thursday afternoon May 29th around 3.30pm. According to Sahara Reporters, New York Police say they were told by eye-witnesses that Omotayo jumped from the bridge and hit the Hudson River but astonishingly survived the jump as she was seen surfacing from the river shortly after jumping and then swimming towards the New York bank of the Hudson river. She hasn't been seen since then. Police officials told SR that Adeoye is “still considered missing” and that their investigation in this case is ongoing.

Nigeria Entertainment Awards released their nominees list yesterday evening with Skuki as part of their best new act. The duo who found this offensive took to their twitter pages and said it must have been some sort of mix up or a joke. Skuki started singing late 2009 and have different hits to their credit; they are not in any way new. Who does not know the singers in the music industry?   A teacher in Turkey has been jailed for 'humiliating religious values' after he used the nickname 'Allah C.C.' on Twitter. The user, named Ertan P, was accused by prosecutors in the eastern province of Muş of 'writing harmful content' for including the name of God and the Prophet. The court rejected the defendant's claim that his account was hacked and he was handed 15 months behind bars. C.C. is the abbreviation of the honorific Arabic phrase 'Celle Celaluhu' which means, '[Allah's] glory is so almighty.' His handle, still live on Twitter, also included the Prophet's name.

Banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, 80, has sold the NBA team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for a whopping $2 billion. ESPN reports that the agreement was signed Thursday and was sent straight to the NBA for final approval. Ballmer outbid former NBA star Grant Hill, who offered $1 billion, and a group of wealthy business people that included Oprah Winfrey. Ballmer's bid has also set a record price for an NBA team. Clippers owner Donald Sterling was banned from the NBA for life by league commissioner Adam Silver after recordings of him making racist comments were made public. He authorized his wife Shelly to negotiate a sale of the team. Talk about balling big - Donald Sterling bought the Clippers in 1981 for $12.5M ($32.6M in today’s USD). But was forced to sell his team.... for $2Billion! He got a 2.5 million dollar fine and a $2billion payout, so the question is - Who is the real winner now?

16 year old Vincent Parker pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering his parents Carol and Wayne Parker last December. The boy says that there was no specific fight that prompted the brutal MURDER. The sadistic killer told authorities, 'I just remember getting mad,' Parker told the court. 'It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff.' The story gets worse. Vincent was an only child being raised by his hard working parents Carol, 57, and father Wayne, 55, in their Norfolk, Virginia home. They did everything right - they lived in a good neighborhood, and helped Vincent become an honor roll student.

Two teenage girls, a 14 year old and her 15 year old cousin were gang-raped by five Indian men and then hanged them from a tree in a village in the northern stateo f  Uttar Pradesh, police said today. According to  Reuters , the two girls  who were from a low-caste Dalit community went missing from their village home when they went out to go to the toilet on Tuesday evening, May 27th. T he following morning, villagers found the bodies of the two teenagers hanging from a mango tree in a nearby orchard.  Indian police have arrested one man and are looking for four other suspects. The police said a post-mortem confirmed the two minors were raped and died from the hanging. American Transgender actress, Laverne Cox, of Netflix's hit  Orange Is the New Black  becomes the first transgender woman to grace the cover of Time magazine for a story about 'The Transgender Tipping Point. Time revealed the mag cover today. Laverne, who is a voice for transgenders in the US and one of the most well-known transgender faces in mainstream media, talked to Time about her life as an effeminate young boy and the bullying she had to endure growing up. The newlyweds were spotted leaving a cinema after watching a movie during their honeymoon in Ireland yesterday. They were both dressed in black and tried to go unnoticed but other movie-goers noticed them with one later tweeting  "Kim and Kanye are having the weirdest honeymoon like they went to the cinema in Portlaoise??' An 11-year-old boy at New Takoradi Lower Town has had his face and parts of the body burnt with an electric iron allegedly by his own biological mother, for purportedly stealing GH¢5.00 belonging to the little boy’s friend. Daily Guide  leant that the boy is currently receiving treatment at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Western Region, for the multiple burns he sustained. This paper gathered that the 28-year-old mother is in the grips of the Takoradi police while investigations into the incident continue.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Mr. Paul Obiefule, for allegedly beating his 12-year-old relative to death. The relative, who was identified as Onyedikachi Mbanozo, was staying with Obiefule, a bricklayer, and his wife on Omitola Street in the Agege area of Lagos. Punch  Metro learnt that Onyedika, as the boy was fondly called, was the son of Obiefule’s wife’s brother. It was further gathered that the boy was beaten to death on Monday evening around 8.30pm, while the neighbours reported the matter at the Pen Cinema Police Division on Tuesday. It was said that Onyedika, who was attending Irewole Primary School in Agege, could not go to school for several weeks before his death as a result of a sickness sustained from series of beatings.

It's official. Dr Dre is set to become the first billionaire in Hip Hop. Apple Electronics announced today that it has acquired Dr Dre's Beats Electronics for $3billion. According to  Forbes , Apple paid $2.6billion cash upfront and gave $400million in stock that will vest over time. The $3billion purchase price includes Beats Music, the sister company that runs a subscription streaming music service. As part of the deal, Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will join Apple  in undisclosed roles. "Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple,” CEO Tim Cook said in a statement released today. “That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.” This acquisition is Apple’s biggest and largest acquisition since the inception of the company. A pastor with Deeper life Bible Church and a former Brooklyn-based civil attorney Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo, was yesterday May 28th sentenced to 6 years imprisonment by a US Federal High Court for defrauding banks, mortgage lenders, property owners, and property buyers in America. Prosecutors say Mr Abakporo and his accomplice, Latanya Pierce, carried out the illegal transactions for over nine years. They were convicted in a wide-ranging series of illegal transactions in New York city over a 9-year stretch, dating back to 2003. His accomplice, Latanya Pierce was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment. Actor Brad Pitt was yesterday May 28th allegedly struck in the face by notorious celebrity 'prankster' Vitali Sediuk as he was signing autographs at the Hollywood premiere of Angelina Jolie's movie, Maleficent. The 25 year old jumped the barricade and attacked the actor, police say Sediuk has a history of confronting celebrities at red carpet events. In 2012, he was slapped by actor Will Smith after he attempted to kiss Smith during a movie premiere. Only recently at the Cannes premiere of "How to Train Your Dragon 2" Sediuk was put his head up America Ferrara's dress hoping to break through security to get into the premiere. In the past he's hugged actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Bradley Cooper around the knees at separate events. Sediuk was held by security guards and then taken away by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department to the nearby Hollywood police station. He is likely to be charged with misdemeanor battery. There was panic in the Kurudu, Jikoyi community in the outskirt of Abuja this morning after a loud explosion was heard. Residents in the area were reportedly seen running for safety when they heard the loud bang. It was initially thought to be a bomb blast but a Spokesman for the Nigerian army assured people it wasn't, explaining that a rock blocking a new road being constructed from Karishi to Apo in the Abuja city centre, was blasted with dynamites to help free the road and allow construction to continue

Nigerian student Naizi Evah, (pictured above) a third year Computer Systems Engineering student of Vaal University of Technology, South Africa was found dead on Saturday May 2014 in her hostel room, this is according to her friends who are trying to get the media involved in the case. One of her friends who reached out to me said prior to her death, Naizi had been in an abusive relationship with a Zimbabwean student, who also studies in same school with her, studying same course. The unidentified man was arrested by police in connection with Naizi's death but was bailed two days after police said they couldn't find any substantial evidence linking him to her death. Her friends say the boyfriend had been emotionally and physically abusive towards Naizi, beat her severally and even threatened to kill. A pregnant Pakistani woman was stoned to death by her own family in front of a Pakistani high court - for marrying the man she loved,  UK Daily Mail  reports Nearly 20 members of the woman's family, including her father and brothers, attacked her and her husband with batons and bricks in broad daylight. 23 year old Precious Chineme Nwoko (pictured above) has been sentenced to 27 years imprisonment by a Cambodian Court for drug trafficking in Cambodia. Police sources say Nwoko was a ringleader in a heroin smuggling cartel in Cambodia. He was arrested last month for handing a backpack containing 2.2 kilos (4.8 pounds) of heroin to two women, 41year old Australian Yoshe Ann Taylor and 19 year old French Charlene Savarino, for onward transportation to an unidentified man in Australia. Both women were however caught and arrested.   At their trial last month, it was discovered that 19 year old Savarino was Nwoko's girlfriend and they worked closely in smuggling heroin. 41 year old Taylor had also previously helped to smuggle heroin using the backpack. Judge Kor Vandy at Phnom Penh Municipal Court who presided over their case today said Nwoko and the two women were guilty of 'cross-border smuggling of illegal drugs and thereafter sentenced Nwoko's 19year old girlfriend Sa

Rapper Rick Ross, who is worth roughly about $30million, shared a pic on his instagram page yesterday showing his new chin tattoo...he tattooed the phrase 'Rich Forever' on his face... He's being massively criticized for it with one fan writing  "He's not rich enough that he doesn't have to worry about money for the rest of his life. One of America's most famous and inspiring poets and writers, Maya Angelou, has died. She died last night with her family by her side in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from an illness. The famed author was to be honored this Friday with the Beacon of Life Award at Major League Baseball's Civil Rights Game when she fell ill and had to cancel. Angelou has received more than 30 honorary degrees from universities around the world.  She published 7 autobiographies, 3 books of essays, and several books of poetry, and is credited  with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning more than 50 years. "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou famously wrote May her soul rest in peace. The owner of Manchester United football club, Malcolm Glazer, has died. The billionaire business man who bought Man U in 2005 and also owned NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers, died on May 28, three days after his 86th birthday. He was the president and chief executive officer of First Allied Corporation, a holding company for his varied business interests. He was worth $4billion.  He left behind a wife, 6 children and 14 grandchildren. May he RIP!

According to Nielsen Soundscan, the week after video footage leaked of Solange punching, kicking and spitting on her sister's husband, Jay Z, her digital music sales jumped 233%! The week prior to the fight footage becoming public, Solange's music sales hovered around 600 downloads but the week after the video leak, it surged to over 2000. Now it's nearing 3000 downloads You know what they say, no publicity is bad publicity. Look at Kim K for instance, she became an international superstar after a leaked sex video. 

The Supreme Court today Monday May 26th ordered Dr Dickson Osuala to pay N8million fine to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta and 3 others for abuse of court process,  PM News  reports. Osuala was counsel to Chief Great Ogboru, candidate of the Democratic People’s Party in the 2011 Delta governorship election. Other parties in the N8 million cost are the PDP, INEC, and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) who are to get N2million each. Osuala‎ had, on behalf of his client, applied for a review of the court’s judgement which in 2013 upheld the election of Uduaghan of the PDP. He had claimed in his application that, Section 285 (7) of the 1999 Constitution which the Supreme Court relied on to dismiss the case, was “fraudulently inserted by the National Assembly”.

Nigeria's Chief of Defense Staff Air Marshall Alex Badeh today said that the Nigeria military has been able to locate the 200+ girls abducted in Chibok on April 14th  but will not use force to rescue them because that could put the girls in great danger as the insurgents could kill them.  He revealed this today while addressing a group of protesters, the Citizens Initiative for Security Awareness, outside the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. He said the military knows what they are doing and should be allowed to continue their work "We want our girls back. The military can do it, but where they are held, can we go with force? The good news for the girls is that we know where they are but we can't tell you. Just leave us alone. We are working. We will bring the girls back" He said

On Friday May 23rd, Elliot Rodger the son of Hollywood movie director, Peter Rodger went on a crazed shooting spree for being rejected by girls and being a virgin at age 22. (read the story  here ). All six of his victims have been named. They are (top row, from left to right) Katie Cooper, Chris Michael-Martinez, Veronica Weiss, (bottom row, from left to right) Weihan Wang, George Chen, and Cheng Yuan Hong, who shared same apartment with the killer. All were students at UCSB. A friend of Rodger's two roommates, Wang and Yuan Hong, revealed that they had been planning to move out of the apartment at the end of the semester because they felt uncomfortable living with Elliot and found him 'so strange.' All three were found with multiple stab wounds in Elliot's apartment in Isla Vista. After killing them, he took 3 handguns and went on a shooting spree, killing three more students before killing himself

Tope Fadipe, the lady who was attacked with acid by a Nigerian Customs Officer in Badagry area has been discharged from the General Hospital in Badagry, Sahara Reporters reports. (Read  here ) Tope was admitted at the hospital on May 9th following the attack by Chief Superintendent of Customs F.C. Nwaeze, who accused her of failing to remit N50,000 in stock sales to his wife, an allegation Tope denied but was still punished for it. The acid caused the victim grievous bodily harm. Her attacker is currently being held at the Police State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti in Yaba, Lagos. Continue... 

Speaking during the 2014 Democracy Day Interdenominational Church Service in Abuja yesterday Sunday May 25th, president Jonathan said there are evil people that are trying to bring down his government and they are the ones behind the violence in Nigeria, Punch reports. "You can imagine if this government had not been facing these distractions within this period, definitely, we would have moved farther than this. All these distractions are planned to bring this government down and since they failed, terror will also fail. “We have been witnessing terror attacks for two years plus, but the Chibok incident has added a major dent on the security of the country.   This guy is crazy. haha. Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose's hubby was arrested early Sunday morning at an airport in Texas after a "green leafy substance" was found on him. TMZ reports that the "Black and Yellow" rapper was flying from El Paso to Dallas when TSA officials discovered the green stuff. Wiz was taken into custody and  turned over to local police. Cops concluded the leafy substance was marijuana and since it's against the law, Wiz was arrested. And instead of being remorseful, Wiz took to Twitter to share this photo he captioned 'Jail Selfie", asking his fans to pressurize the police into releasing him. 

Rob Kardashian left LA for Paris with his mum on Tuesday to attend big sister Kim K's wedding to Kanye West but something must have happened because Rob skipped the wedding. The reality star was spotted alone at LAX airport California yesterday Saturday May 24th, same day Kim and Kanye got married. A 22-year old mother has been arrested for selling her one month old baby for N430,000 in Enugu. The mother, Chinelo Huma got N150,000 out of the deal while other women involved shared the rest of the money. They were later arrested for such an illegal act, but the new mom, who is 43 and has been barren all through her marriage cried and pleaded with the police to give her back the baby. Elliot Rodger, the son of Peter Rodger who was the assistant director of The Hunger Games have shot seven people dead because he never dated or kissed anyone at 22. Rodger claims no one wanted to date him even when he was still in college and threatened to punish them by killing them. He posted a video on youtube where he recorded his threats and says he feels lonely and unwanted as a 22-year old virgin. His family later reported him to the police, but they found him to be a perfectly polite, kind and wonderful person. He also shot himself in the head after killing six. A 52-year old man, Onyejiaju Augustine from Imo State has been arrested by NDLEA officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while trying to smuggle 2.605kg of cocaine carefully and neatly packed as candies. Onyejiaju who had been on the list of wanted smugglers, was eventually caught during the screening of passengers enroute Etihad. He described his arrest as unfortunate and said he was unlucky his trick was unravelled. 

  The United States has deployed 80 American military personnel to Chad to assist in the search for more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram last month, President Barack Obama told Congress on Wednesday. Obama wrote in a letter to House Speaker, John Boehner, and Senate President, Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy: “These personnel will support the operation of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft for missions over northern Nigeria and the surrounding area. The force will remain in Chad until its support in resolving the kidnapping situation is no longer required.” The letter was sent to comply with the War Power Resolution, which requires congressional notification within 48 hours of American troop commitments.

This elderly woman pictured above escaped lynching on Wednesday after being accused of being a bird and witch in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State. According to residents of Ojo Road, where the purported transformation took place, the woman was a black bird before suddenly turning into a human being. Hundreds of residents were said to have gathered around the woman to lynch her. An eyewitness, Chike, said he was sitting in front of a compound with his girlfriend when they saw three black birds flying. He said it seemed as if the birds were involved in a fight and as he was watching, suddenly, one of the birds fell into a moving van belonging to the Eko Electricity  Distribution Company while the other two flew away. He said:

Chilling CCTV footage has emerged of a Chinese man armed with a cleaver going on the rampage at a primary school in central China on Tuesday, attacking first and second-graders and leaving eight children injured. The man was identified as 35-year-old Chen Zuihang and has been detained following the attack at the school in Macheng, in Hubei province. The city's government said on its website that police were  investigating the motive. The statement said the injured students were being treated at a hospital.
